Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Updat3 platform, including our website and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by the operator of Updat3 ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Updat3 is a news intelligence service. It tracks which outlets are covering an event and publishes original, multi-source syntheses of that reporting with links to the sources. The Service is intended to provide informational content only.

AI-assisted synthesis. Updat3 does not conduct original reporting. Automated systems synthesize and contextualize reporting and primary-source material from third-party sources. Headlines, summaries, key facts, historical context and analysis are written by AI models and published automatically; a person reviews stories that our automated checks or readers flag, but not every story is reviewed before publication. They can contain errors or omissions. Each story lists the outlets it draws on so you can read the original reporting. If you spot an error, use "Report an issue" on the story or email us; we correct confirmed errors.

Third-party articles remain the property of their publishers. We link to original sources and encourage you to read them.

3.1 Registration

You may use certain features of the Service without an account. To access personalisation features, bookmarking, and email digests, you must register for an account. You may register using an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In.

3.2 Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at updat3news@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

3.3 Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings page. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or are inactive for an extended period.

The Service is currently free. We do not offer paid subscriptions and we do not collect payment information.

If we introduce paid features in the future, their price, billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms will be shown to you before you are asked to pay, and these Terms will be updated before any charge is made. Features that are free when you use them will not start costing money without notice.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content from the Service using automated means without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Transmit any malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
• Harass, threaten, or harm other users.
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
• Reproduce, distribute, or republish AI-generated summaries or analysis from the Service as your own original work.

6.1 Our content

The Updat3 name, logo, design, and any original text, summaries, or analysis generated by the Service are owned by or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our proprietary content without written permission.

6.2 Third-party content

Third-party material remains owned by its respective rightsholders. Updat3 uses third-party material only as permitted by applicable law, license, provider or source terms, or other applicable authorization. These Terms do not grant you any right in third-party material. Links to original reporting are provided so you can read it at its source.

If you are a rightsholder and have a concern about how your content is used, see Content rights requests or email updat3news@gmail.com. Factual corrections go through "Report an issue" on the story.

6.3 Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that feedback without any obligation to you.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any news summaries or AI-generated content. You should not rely on the Service as your sole source of information for important decisions.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, UPDAT3 SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100 USD.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Updat3 and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

The Service contains links to third-party websites and content. These links are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or via a notice on the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the law that applies where the operator of Updat3 is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live.
